Another Bomb Scare in NYC

Police suspected a suspicious car in Union Square contained bomb materials when they responded to a report on Friday morning, but determined that the vehicle belonged to a gardener at a nearby concert.  The incident joins a list of bomb scares that have jolted New York since the failed Times Square bombing and comes a few hours after police arrested a possible accomplice to Faisal Shazad in Pakistan. On Sunday's Meet the Press, David Gregory gave blunt insight into the futility of trying to contain terrorism.

"Right. But there -- I mean the reality is you ultimately cannot stop attacks from happening. You can try, David, to disrupt the plots, you can, to be blunt about it, kill the people with predator drones or troops or whatever who are organizing them. And there are probably a finite number of really good people over there who can launch these attacks because Shahzad was clearly not the cream of the crop."

E.J. Dionne Jr. pointed out: "I mean, this is a hard problem. How do we protect ourselves and, at the same time, remain a nation rooted in liberty and law?"
